Steve comes from a
farming background. Growing up in Southeast Missouri, he and his family
have grown rice, soybeans, cotton, wheat, corn, and milo.
In the early 1970's,
he started farming his own land and leased more in the Poplar Bluff,
Missouri area. He began using a transit to mark his own rice levees.
After grading his own fields, he then started custom land grading for
other area farmers.
In 1981, Steve began
doing custom work, using a laser and 4' analog mounted on a tractor to
mark levees and take elevation readings for cut sheets in the Poplar
Bluff area.
By 1996, Steve
upgraded to precision ag equipment including a 6' analog, laser, control
box and laptop computer to design farms utilizing GPS technology. In the
spring of 2001 he bought his first RTK GPS equipment, and has continued to improve and upgrade his services. Centimeter accuracy in elevation at greater distances than
possible with a laser, along with dependability and precision are how we give our customers the best information available.His experience includes contracts in contour marking and
mapping over 2500 acres for several reforestation, wetland, and waterfowl habitat restoration
projects. Steve also regularly marks from 15,000 to 18,000 acres of rice levees and designs on average 2500-3000 acres annually.
Steve and his wife usually work together as a team, traveling to jobs in several states.
Kerry explains, "On many occasions, we have been on site within 24 hours of advice that the tract is dry and "ready to go".Our trucks are equipped as a mobile offices, and we can refresh our work schedule and keep current with our customers as calls come in."
Steve pledge is, "I'm always looking for ways to improve on the work I do, to satisfy my customers, and let them know I am there literally at a moment's notice when at all possible. That's what farming is about-getting in the field as quickly as possible and not wasting any time getting the crop in."
